Steven Spielberg makes Comic-Con debut with 'Tintin'

There is no bigger geek god than Steven Spielberg, who made his Comic-Con debut today. And when he arrived on the Hall H stage, the packed audience gave him a fittingly enthusiastic standing ovation.
And the crowd went wild again just a few minutes later at the panel for The Adventures of Tintin, the director's new animated performance-capture flick, when he brought out his producer: Peter Jackson, who flew in from New Zealand during a break from filming The Hobbit.
George Lucas may be his best friend, but Spielberg looks at Jackson as a sibling. "Its like working with your brother. It's very, very easy."

'Twilight' cast surprises Comic-Con fans with breakfast

Just a little after 6:15 a.m., faithful Twi-hard fans, who have long been lined up outside of Comic-Con’s Hall H, were rewarded for their efforts when cast members from Breaking Dawn showed up to give their thanks with with a surprise breakfast.

Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Ashley Greene (Alice), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Boo Boo Stewart (Seth Clearwater), and Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater), sneaked up on on Camp Breaking Dawn. Fans, who were just waking up from a long night in line, thought the surprise were the free Twilight posters and mugs being given out by the studio. Little did they know!
Unsurprisingly, when members of the Cullen clan and the wolfpack showed up (with apples, bananas, muffins and water), a delighted cheer rippled down the line, as Reed and Greene posed for photos and signed autographs. (More than one fan wished Reed congratulations on her recent engagement to American Idol season 10 contestant Paul McDonald.) “I was very sleepy, but now I’m awake,” Jones joked as she posed for a photograph. “This is my first San Diego Comic-Con and this is some other level.” Her favorite scene from the upcoming film, she said, was a quiet one between Leah and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). “It was so nice… and really poignant. It was just the two of us — usually there are so many characters around. It was this beautiful day.”  Next up, she had to ready herself for the scene that will take place in a few hours at Hall H when the cast assembles on stage.  ”The shrieking is the most shocking thing,” she said. “But here we go!”

Longtime fans Jennifer Cardoso, 37, from northern California, and San Diego native Jasmine Arreasa, 14, were in high spirits after waiting in line for over 24 hours. “Security is much better this time around,” said Cardoso, who had previously attending Comic-Con for Eclipse, and said she was most excited to see Robert Pattinson later in the day. (Arreasa said for her it was Taylor Lautner. The love triangle continues!) Both women said they were most looking forward to Bella and Edward’s honeymoon on the big screen. “There will be feathers,” said Cardoso.

Boo Boo Stewart said he had been to last year’s Comic-Con as a fan. This year, he said, while looking at the crowd taking pictures of him, is different. “They’ve been waiting for such a long time … they’ve been out here since Monday,” he said with a grin. “It’s just… awesome.”

Elizabeth Reaser, signing autographs and talking to fans nearby, agreed. “This is the whole reason for coming to Comic-Con.”
