Duchess of Cambridge's old car on sale for 20 times value

A car once owned and driven by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is on the market for more than 20 times the model's typical value.
The blue Volkswagen Golf hatchback, bought by the Middleton family for Stg10,818 ($16,439) in 2001, is listed for sale on eBay with a reserve of $30,393 by its current owner, Sonny Brazil.
The car, which Catherine used during her years studying at St Andrews University and which she was often pictured driving with her now husband Prince William in the passenger seat, is expected to fetch more than $45,589.
It was the same car in which Catherine famously received a parking ticket in 2003 and which she handed over to her younger brother James after her brief separation from William.
Brazil, 21, bought the car from James in 2009 for $2,127, not realising who had been the original owner until he saw the official documents.
"I went to an auction house in Dorset a few weeks ago and they said it would be worth $45,589 plus, purely because of the name in the log book," he told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper of the Volkswagen.
Apart from putting a new set of tyres on the car, Brazil said he has rarely used the car, only doing about 4,022km during his ownership.
"I became quite precious about it and wouldn't let anyone else drive it, even parking it in a locked garage away from the house in case anyone tried to nick it," he added.
The successful bidder will get the car, all the official documents, and a pair of sterling silver cufflinks which were inside when Mr Brazil took delivery.
The young entrepreneur said he didn't know who had originally owned the cufflinks.
